Rota+ Privacy Policy
Rota+ (“the app”) is developed and published by Reimel Ltd. This policy explains, plainly, what the app does and does not do with your information and your staff’s.
What we collect: nothing
We do not collect, receive, store, transmit or share any personal data. There is no account, no sign-in, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking of any kind. Reimel Ltd never sees who works for you, when they work, whether they came in, or what you pay them. If you email us for support, we receive only what you choose to write, and use it only to answer you.
Everything you enter, your workers’ names, photos, colours, usual working days, pay rates, the days they can’t work with any reason you add, shifts, shift types and templates, the ticks saying who came in and for how long, the pay periods you mark as paid, and your settings, is stored only on your own device, in the app’s private storage. Android’s automatic cloud backup is switched off for this app, so that data is not copied to Google Drive either, and it is left out of Android’s phone-to-phone transfer too. If you want a copy, you make it yourself with Settings › Backup, and you choose where the file goes.
The records are about your staff, so you are responsible for them as their employer: the app simply keeps them on your phone. Reimel Ltd does not process them on your behalf, because they never reach us.
Internet access, and why the app asks for it
Rota+ is free for up to three people, with optional Team and Business subscriptions for larger teams. To offer those, the app includes Google’s Play Billing library, and that is where these permissions come from:
com.android.vending.BILLING– lets Google Play process a subscription.android.permission.INTERNETandandroid.permission.ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE– declared by Google’s data-transport library, which Play Billing brings with it. Play Billing uses it to send Google information about purchase requests, such as whether a request succeeded or the connection to Google Play failed, so Google can keep billing working.
The app itself never uses the network. No name, photo, shift, tick or pay record is ever sent anywhere by the app. The only outbound traffic the app can generate is Google Play Billing: checking which plan you hold, completing a subscription if you choose to take one, and the purchase logs above.
Subscriptions are handled entirely by Google Play. Reimel Ltd does not receive or store your name, email address, or any payment details. Google’s own privacy policy covers that transaction: policies.google.com/privacy.
The other permissions the app asks for
android.permission.USE_BIOMETRICandandroid.permission.USE_FINGERPRINT– only for the optional App lock in Settings, which asks for your fingerprint, face or phone PIN before Rota+ opens. Android performs that check itself and simply tells the app yes or no: your fingerprint, face or PIN is never seen, read or stored by Rota+, and nothing about it leaves your device. Leave App lock off and these are never used.android.permission.RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED,android.permission.WAKE_LOCKandandroid.permission.FOREGROUND_SERVICE– declared by Android’s own scheduling library, which the app uses for one small task: refreshing the home-screen widget just after midnight so “who’s on today” is right when the day changes. That task reads your records on the device and sends nothing anywhere.
Worker photos are chosen with Android’s own photo picker, which gives the app only the one picture you pick; the app has no access to the rest of your photos and asks for no storage permission.
Sharing the rota and the pay sheet
When you tap Share, the app makes a picture, a PDF or a spreadsheet file (CSV) on your phone, of the week’s rota, one day, a pay period, one person’s timesheet, or a report of absences and changed hours, and hands it to Android’s share sheet. You choose where it goes, such as a WhatsApp group, a message or an email, and from then on it is with that app and the people you sent it to. A rota shows names and shift times. A timesheet, a pay sheet and the spreadsheet show names, days and hours, and rates and amounts too if you have switched pay on. An absences report shows the dates and any note you added, such as a reason for leaving early, so share it with care. The app never sends anything by itself.
The home-screen widget
If you add the widget, it shows first names and shift times for today, and how many shifts are still to tick, on your home screen, where anyone who can see your phone can read them. The widget is optional, and removing it removes that view; nothing about it leaves your device.
Backups
When you save a backup file, the app writes it to the location you choose. If you turn on automatic backups, the app writes a dated file into the folder you picked, which may be a cloud-synced folder if that is what you chose. A backup file contains your records, including worker photos and pay rates, so keep it as you would any staff record. That choice is yours, and the app has no other destination.
Your figures
Hours and pay are calculated on your device from the shifts, ticks and rates you enter. They are gross pay for the time worked: tax, deductions, payslips and holiday pay are not worked out. The figures are your own records, not payroll advice.
Children
The app is intended for adults running a business and collects no data from anyone, including children.
Changes
Any update to this policy will be posted on this page, with the date at the top changed.
