StairCalc Privacy Policy
StairCalc (“the app”) is developed and published by Reimel Ltd. This policy explains, plainly, what the app does and does not do with your information.
What we collect: nothing
We do not collect, receive, store, transmit or share any personal data. There is no account, no sign-in, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking of any kind. Reimel Ltd never sees your measurements or your cut lists.
The measurements you type and the settings you choose are stored only on your own device, in the app’s private storage, so they are there the next time you open it. Android’s automatic cloud backup is switched off for this app, so that data is not copied to Google Drive either.
Internet access, and why the app asks for it
StairCalc includes an optional one-time purchase, StairCalc Pro, which unlocks the stair types beyond the straight stair, the timber list, PDF and CSV sharing and the full-screen 3D view. To offer that, the app includes Google Play Billing, and that is the only reason it declares these permissions:
com.android.vending.BILLING– lets Google Play process the one-time StairCalc Pro purchase.android.permission.INTERNET– required by Google Play Billing to reach Play’s servers.android.permission.ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE– required by Google Play Billing to check connectivity.
The calculator itself never uses the network. Every calculation, drawing and 3D model is worked out on the phone, and nothing you type is ever sent anywhere. The only outbound traffic the app can generate is Google Play checking whether you own StairCalc Pro, and completing that purchase if you choose to make it.
Purchases are handled entirely by Google Play. Reimel Ltd does not receive or store your name, email address, or any payment details. Google’s own privacy policy covers that transaction: policies.google.com/privacy.
Sharing and exporting
When you choose to share a cut list (as text, PDF or CSV), the app hands that file to whichever app you pick from Android’s standard share sheet. StairCalc does not upload it anywhere, and it only ever happens when you ask for it.
Building regulations
The app can compare your stair against published limits from Approved Document K (England) or the International Residential Code. That check runs entirely on the device from the numbers you typed. It is guidance only and is not a substitute for approval by your Building Control body or local building department.
Children
The app is suitable for all ages and collects no data from anyone, including children.
Changes
Any update to this policy will be posted on this page, with the date at the top changed.
