TakeHome+ Privacy Policy

TakeHome+ (“the app”) is developed and published by Reimel Ltd. This policy explains, plainly, what the app does and does not do with your information. What you earn is nobody’s business but yours, and the app is built that way.

What we collect: nothing

We do not collect, receive, store, transmit or share any personal data. There is no account, no sign-in, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking of any kind. Reimel Ltd never sees your salary, your side income, your pension, your dividends, your rent or any figure you type.

Your income sources, tax settings and results are stored only on your own device, in the app’s private storage. Android’s automatic cloud backup is switched off for this app, so that data is not copied to Google Drive either. If you want a copy, you make it yourself with Settings › Backup, and you choose where the file goes.

The calculation happens on your phone

Every figure the app shows is worked out on the device from a tax-rate table shipped inside the app. It does not call HMRC, a tax service, or any server of ours to calculate anything, and it does not need a connection to do its job.

Internet access, and why the app asks for it

TakeHome+ includes an optional one-time purchase, TakeHome+ Pro, which unlocks unlimited income sources, the what-if slider, the target-income solver, PDF and CSV export and automatic backups. To offer that, the app includes Google Play Billing, and that is the only reason it declares these permissions:

• com.android.vending.BILLING – lets Google Play process the one-time TakeHome+ Pro purchase.
• android.permission.INTERNET – required by Google Play Billing to reach Play’s servers.
• android.permission.ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE – required by Google Play Billing to check connectivity.
• android.permission.USE_BIOMETRIC and android.permission.USE_FINGERPRINT – only for the optional App lock in Settings, which asks for your fingerprint or face before TakeHome+ opens. Android performs that check itself and simply tells the app yes or no: your fingerprint or face is never seen, read or stored by TakeHome+, and nothing about it leaves your device. Leave App lock off and these are never used.
• android.permission.FOREGROUND_SERVICE, android.permission.WAKE_LOCK and android.permission.RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED – TakeHome+ does not ask for these itself. They are added automatically by a scheduling library that Google Play Billing depends on. The app schedules no background work, runs no service, starts nothing when your phone boots and sends you no notifications at all.

For completeness, that is every permission in the app. TakeHome+’s own manifest asks for exactly one, android.permission.INTERNET; the rest arrive with Google Play Billing and the App lock library. You can check this yourself against the installed app: Android lists an app’s permissions under Settings › Apps › TakeHome+.

The calculator itself never uses the network. No income figure, no pension contribution and no result is ever sent anywhere. The only outbound traffic the app can generate is Google Play checking whether you own TakeHome+ Pro, completing that purchase if you choose to make it, and showing Google Play’s own “rate this app” prompt.

Purchases are handled entirely by Google Play. Reimel Ltd does not receive or store your name, email address, or any payment details. Google’s own privacy policy covers that transaction: policies.google.com/privacy.

Sharing and exporting

When you export a summary (PDF or CSV) or a backup file, the app writes it to the location you choose, or hands it to whichever app you pick from Android’s standard share sheet. TakeHome+ does not upload it anywhere, and it only ever happens when you ask for it. If you turn on automatic backups, the app writes a dated file into the folder you picked, which may be a cloud-synced folder if that is what you chose. That choice is yours, and the app has no other destination.

Not tax advice, and not affiliated with HMRC

TakeHome+ is an independent calculator published by Reimel Ltd. It is not connected with, endorsed by or operated on behalf of HM Revenue & Customs or any government body. Its figures follow published UK rates and are estimates for planning; your employer’s payroll and your own Self Assessment are the final word.

Children

The app is intended for adults with UK income and collects no data from anyone, including children.

Changes

Any update to this policy will be posted on this page, with the date at the top changed.
