Tasbih+ Privacy Policy
Tasbih+ is an offline Islamic companion app. This policy explains exactly what it does with information on your device. In short: the app collects nothing about you and sends nothing to us or to anyone else.
Data we collect or transmit: none
Tasbih+ has no user accounts and no servers, and makes no network connections of its own: it contains no code that sends or fetches anything. The only network access it can use belongs to Google Play, described under Internet access below. It contains no analytics, no advertising, and no tracking of any kind. Everything you do, your dhikr counts, settings, prayer-tracking log, Quran reading position and favourites, and any Zakat calculations you save, is stored only on your device and is deleted when you uninstall the app.
Location (optional, on-device only)
If you choose to use the calculated prayer-times or the Qibla compass feature, the app may ask for location permission (approximate and/or precise). Your location is used only on your device to:
- calculate prayer times for where you are, and
- work out the Qibla direction (the bearing to Makkah) for the compass.
Your location is never sent to us and never shared with anyone, we operate no servers to send it to. The app also works without location: you can use the bundled prayer timetable or enter a location manually. You can grant or revoke location permission at any time in Android settings.
Notifications, reminders and alarms
With your permission, Tasbih+ can show local notifications and alarms on your device, including: prayer-time and optional pre-prayer reminders, optional daily hadith/du’a, Islamic-date, fasting, Jumu’ah and Quran reading-plan reminders. To do this the app uses the notification, exact-alarm and (for the prayer tone) media-playback foreground-service permissions, and, if you enable the full-screen prayer alarm, permission to show that alarm over the lock screen. These features run entirely on your device using Android’s alarm scheduler; no reminder data leaves your phone. All of them are optional and off by default (except the basic in-app display), and can be turned off in the app’s settings. The app also re-arms your scheduled reminders after the device restarts.
Permissions we request, and why
- Vibrate, tactile feedback for the counter and alerts.
- Notifications, to show prayer-time and other reminders you enable.
- Exact alarm & run after restart, to fire reminders at the right time and re-schedule them after a reboot.
- Foreground service (media playback), to play the prayer tone so it can finish and be stopped.
- Full-screen intent, to show the prayer alarm over the lock screen (optional).
- Approximate & precise location, optional; used on-device only for prayer times and Qibla, as described above.
- Internet and network state, required by Google Play Billing for the optional tip, as described below. No dhikr, prayer, Quran or Zakat data is transmitted.
- Billing, lets Google Play process a voluntary tip if you choose to leave one.
The app requests no contacts, storage, microphone, camera, or advertising permissions.
Internet access, and why the app has it
Tasbih+ is free, with no paywall and no gated features. It offers an entirely voluntary
tip, and to accept one it includes Google Play Billing. That library is the reason the app
declares android.permission.INTERNET, android.permission.ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE and
com.android.vending.BILLING.
The only outbound traffic the app can generate is Google Play handling a tip, if you choose to leave one. Payment is handled entirely by Google Play, which does not share your name, email address or payment details with us. Google’s own privacy policy covers that transaction: policies.google.com/privacy. Your location, prayer log and everything else stay on your device.
Backup and sharing (you choose)
You can export your settings/counts to a file and import it later. This file is created only when you ask, and it is handed to whichever app you pick through Android’s standard share sheet, Tasbih+ does not upload it anywhere. Any Zakat privacy password you set is stored only as a one-way hash on your device; the password itself is never stored. If you have Google Backup enabled on your device, Android may include the app’s data in its own encrypted backup, which is governed by Google’s policy.
Children
The app is suitable for all ages and collects no data from anyone, including children.
Changes to this policy
Any updates to this policy will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
